Zopo launches first deca-core smartphone

While everyone was showing off their new Snapdragon 820 octa-core processors, Zopo (a fairly unknown name outside of China that frankly isn’t exactly in the big leagues there either) had something entirely new to show us. Some might remember the brand as the first to introduce MediaTek’s MT6592 octa-core processor in the ZP998 in 2013. At this year’s MWC, Zopo repeated the trend by becoming the first to introduce a deca-core processor in its latest smartphone, the Speed 8.

The Zopo Speed 8 will introduce the MediaTek X20 deca-core 64-bit processor. The phone will come with a 5.5-inch Full HD display and 4GB of RAM. It also comes with 32GB of storage and a powerful 3,600mAh battery. We’re obviously yet to learn what the battery consumption for a deca-core will be but the fact that the phone runs Android Marshmallow 6.0, with its array of power-saving features, puts that discussion to rest for now.

The Speed 8’s camera comes with a 21MP Sony IMX230 sensor with a dual LED flash and a 8MP selfie snapper.

A USB type-C connector at the bottom, dual front-facing speakers and fingerprint reader at the back are other features of the device.
