Over the weekend, most people received WhatsApp’s latest update, which enables document-sharing on groups as well as one-to-one chats.


The feature is pretty simple. WhatsApp merged Photo and Video into Gallery in the attachments section and added Documents, keeping the number of options to six.

Whatsapp Document (1)Once you’ve chosen to share documents, it will take you to a menu of your most recent PDFs or Word files, which you can then share in the conversation.

We think it’s a great addition to the messaging service. Most people discuss work involving documents on a daily basis. The Facebook-owned messaging app might just have taken away a lot of business from major email clients. How useful the feature will prove remains to be seen, but as of now it seems to be accepted very well.

The app, which has more than one billion monthly active users, recently ended support for older mobile operating systems including BlackBerry 10 and Windows Phone 7.1
