Titanfall 2 showcased at EA Play

EA has been teasing this title for a while now, and it looks like it’s going to be amazing since it’s made vast improvements on the original. The upside to this one is that it’s also going to be available on other platforms and not just the Xbox One.

It definitely builds on the foundation laid by the first game and should take mech warfare to unseen levels.

One of the biggest announcements was the inclusion of an offline single player campaign that was not present in the first game. Also new to this game are six new Titans, each equipped with their own unique combat skills; more pilot abilities and character customisations and more multiplayer goodness (GRAPPLING HOOK!!!).

In the single player, the EA reps tell us that, “Titanfall 2 will deliver a crafted experience that explores the unique bond between man and machine. Playable offline, the single player campaign in Titanfall 2 will let fans step out on to The Frontier as a Militia rifleman with aspirations of becoming an elite Pilot. Stranded behind enemy lines and facing overwhelming odds, players must team up with a veteran Titan to uphold a mission they were never meant to carry out.”

The true hero of this game however is the multiplayer. And this one looks like it was fed on adrenalin supplements and pumped with steroids in its sleep. The trailer starts off with six of these pilots diving off a transport either on to the ground or on to a mech that it can control almost immediately. At the same time, it shows Titans firing massive rounds of varied ammunition at each other hinting at new versatile abilities.

New pilot abilities besides the super awesome grappling hook are gravity grenades and teleportation. Wall-running has returned and using it in combination with these other new abilities is just awesome to look at. The grappling hook is impressive and a long-awaited addition to the game. It allows the player to move around the environment much faster and even lets you hook on to players and pull them in for up-close kick in the face.

Titanfall 2 will be releasing on October 28 while a beta launch of the multiplayer should be up soon.
