A few hours after the official launch, we have had time to digest everything OnePlus showed us yesterday. The 7T was announced a few weeks ago but yesterday, we got to see the 7T Pro and 7T Pro McLaren Edition.
Over the 7 Pro, the OnePlus 7T Pro is an incremental change at best. It features a faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ processor, a bigger 4,085mAh battery that can be charged 23 per cent faster using OnePlus’ new Warp Charge 30T. At 206g, the phone sports identical dimensions and the same 6.67-inch 90Hz Fluid AMOLED QHD+ panel, although it is now protected by Gorilla Glass 6.
Unlike the 7 Pro, the 7T Pro does not come with up to 12GB of RAM. Instead, the highest configuration is with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage. As for people wanting a 12GB 7T Pro, their only choice is the McLaren Edition.
In a nutshell, the OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition is a premium version of the 7T Pro. Its most striking feature is design. The back of the phone has a symmetrical wood grain appearance and a papaya yellow band all around. To truly make it a McLaren Edition, you also get a soft alcantara case with it, which is a popular material choice in the automotive world.
Both the OnePlus 7T Pro and 7T Pro McLaren Edition will come with OxygenOS 10 which is based on Android 10. Just that the McLaren Edition will have exclusives like the McLaren-themed wallpapers and icons as well as a trademark papaya orange horizon light.
Pricing and availability
The OnePlus 7T Pro will be available from October 17, retailing for £699 (Dh3,251) whereas the OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition will sell for £799 (Dh3,716). Typically, local prices are less than converted international ones but we do not have any details on that just yet. However, we do know the OnePlus 7T will sell for Dh1,949 starting October 20.
