The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Lite is a hotly anticipated smartphone. With around a month to go before its release, the phone’s official specification sheet has leaked.
Galaxy Note 9.5?
Previous rumours suggested that the Galaxy Note 10 Lite will just be a repackaged Galaxy Note9. And that seems to be true. The leaked specification list points at the Exynos 9810 octa-core processor, 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage expandable via micro-SD. Like more recent Galaxy smartphones, the Note 10 Lite will ship with Android 10 and One UI 2.0 out of the box. Alongside will be a 4,500mAh battery that supports 25W fast charging. But unfortunately, there will be no wireless charging support.
For the front, the phone is expected to rock a huge 6.7-inch Infinity-O 2,400 x 1,080 resolution display with a centred punch hole. It will use Samsung’s AMOLED technology but will ditch the curved edges in favour of a flat display design. Being a Note device, the display will also support S-Pen input via the included stylus which will be identical to the one found on the Galaxy Note 10. Other interesting features include an in-screen fingerprint scanner and the return of the much-loved 3.5mm headphone jack.
The back of the phone is where things start to get interesting. The rear panel appears to be carved out of plastic and houses a new camera module. This square-shaped island houses three sensors and an LED flash. While earlier rumours pointed at a 48MP main camera, it seems Samsung has gone with three 12MP sensors. The primary sensor will have an f/1.7 aperture and dual-pixel auto-focus technology. This will be joined by another 12MP ultra-wide angle sensor with an f/2.2. And to complete the trio will be a third 12MP telephoto shooter enabling 2x optical zoom. For selfies, the front camera will come with a 32MP resolution.
Backed by hardware like this, the phone should carry most of the feature set we come to expect on a Galaxy phone. It may also support 4K video recording at 60fps and a super slow-motion mode similar to the one on the Galaxy S9. We also think it will come with Live Focus Video support.
Announcement and pricing
Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10 Lite will go official in mid-January. Initial availability will be restricted to India and other Asian markets however we are not sure if it will come to the UAE on launch. Western markets should receive access to the phone by the end of January. While the phone’s starting price is quoted to be €609 (Dh2,478.5), there is no confirmation on this. Furthermore, European prices are traditionally higher than UAE prices and thus, we can safely expect the actual price in the local market to be lower.
