Rumours and Twitter-famous leakster Evan Blass @evleaks go hand in hand. His latest suggests that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 flagship devices will carry the model numbers SM-G950 and SM-G955. The tweet also mentions the SM-N950, which is the model for the Note series.
Samsung Galaxy S8 models are indeed skipping SM-G94* model numbers, will ship as SM-G950 & SM-G955. Know what else is in the works? SM-N950.

The reason all this is noteworthy is that the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge were SM-G920 and G925 respectively, followed by the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones, which came with SM-G930 and SM-G935 model numbers. The assumption is that the upcoming S8 would be SM-G940 and SM-G945. What does Samsung have up its sleeve that dictates such a jump in series numbers? Does this have anything to do with the rumours around a curved phone?
Also mentioned in the leak is the SM-N950, which is the series code for the Note series. So are we seeing another Note? Is the South Korean giant not killing off a series that has been a PR nightmare? We guess only time will tell. For now, these are rumour enough to keep us excited about the company’s future.
