It’s that time of year when we get excited about the latest Galaxy Note from Samsung. The Note series is the South Korean brand’s best line of phones and has been an absolute hit over the past couple of years. Last year, the Galaxy Note 5 dropped with the S6 Edge+ and we can expect the same to happen in 2016 with the Galaxy Note 6 and S7 Edge+. Samsung’s launch last year came in August so we can expect a summer launch once again.
The Galaxy Note 6 is rumoured to be packing Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 823 with a whopping 6GB of RAM and a beautiful 5.8-inch curved display screen with a sizeable 4,000mAh battery. As precedent shows these rumours are almost always true, be excited Galaxy Note fans. What’s most tantalising, though, is the possibility of a new S Pen. Android Community had unearthed a Samsung patent filing for a foldable S Pen and we may just see that in the Galaxy Note 6. It’s definitely about time the S Pen got a makeover.
The fun doesn’t stop there. It’s also rumoured the new Note 6 will be taking the S7 duos’ IP68 certification, giving the phone dust and water resistance. However, remember that doesn’t mean it’s entirely dust and water proof like the S7. Samsung also may finally be adopting USB Type-C, which is great news for the format. It needs as many big-name backers as it can get.
Moving to the Gear VR 2, there’s absolutely nothing being spoken about a new Gear VR but if rumours of the new Galaxy Note 6 packing a USB Type-C connection are true, and they most likely are, the Gear VR works with a microUSB so it will definitely need to be updated to support Samsung’s latest phone. This is just speculation from our end, we’re waiting to see what the world’s largest smartphone-maker finally comes out with.
