Rumours of a new PlayStation 4.5 or “Neo” are currently afloat and today, according to leaks obtained by Giant Bomb, the new PS 4.5 specs have been listed as follows.
|CPU||8 Jaguar Cores at 1.6 GHz||8 Jaguar Cores at 2.1 GHz|
|GPU||AMD GCN, 18 CUs at 800 MHz||Improved AMD GCN, 36 CUs at 911 MHz|
|Memory||8 GB GDDR5, 176 GB/s||8 GB GDDR5, 218 GB/s|
Now fret not, this doesn’t mean you’re going to have to upgrade your current PS4. We aren’t even halfway through the console’s life cycle. All upcoming gaming titles will support both PlayStations. Though it should be noted that the PS Neo will support a smoother frame rate as well as 4K output. Sony also sent out a mandate to developers where they were instructed to “meet or exceed” the frame rate of a game when it ran on the standard PS4 hardware. Old games will not be affected either, unless they introduce patches to match the potential on the Neo.
An upgraded PlayStation, the PSVR and a load of games. This is beginning to sound like a fantastic year for Sony. If the rumours are true, will you be upgrading?
