OnePlus launched a slew of smartphones this year, a lot of them with 90Hz AMOLED displays. The company has also gone on to say that all its future smartphones will sport these higher refresh rate panels. But if recent rumours are to go by, the OnePlus 8 Pro will go a step further with a 120Hz panel.
How do we know?
A recent post by industry tipster Max J. has the caption “Be a ‘pro'”. While this could allude to Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S11, a tweet following it cleared the confusion. He went onto say that he was actually referring to OnePlus, which means the upcoming 8 Pro will come with a 120Hz panel.
If this leak is true, the OnePlus 8 Pro would become the first Chinese smartphone to come with a 120Hz display. It is unlikely that the vanilla OnePlus 8 will don the same refresh rate display however we cannot discount that.
What will the phone look like?
In spite of it being so early on, we have already gotten a first look at the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro. Both the phones are similar looking and retain the characteristics of the current OnePlus 7 flagship lineup.
They both feature punch-hole style displays which obviously means that pop-up selfie cameras on OnePlus devices may be short lived. This change could also mean the upcoming smartphones may have official IP-certification for water and dust resistance. As far as the camera is concerned, the alleged OnePlus 8 sports a triple setup whereas the OnePlus 8 Pro may equip a quad camera.
