OnePlus’ new flagship smartphones are just a few weeks away. But it seems like their specifications will not be a surprise when the smartphones are announced in mid-April. Notorious tipster Ishan Agarwal has been able to uncover exactly what the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will pack.
Battery charging upgrades and an IP rating
Limited to the OnePlus 8 Pro, the smartphone will see big changes to both its battery and waterproofing department. For one, it will come with IP68 water and dust resistance but more interestingly, it will pack a 4,510mAh battery. This will be capable of 30W Warp Charge 30T as well as 30W wireless fast charging. Pushing this even further, you will also get 3W reverse wireless charging functionality for charging other gadgets when required.
On the other hand, the OnePlus 8 does not see a significant upgrade here. We are looking at 30W Warp Charge 30T on the 4,300mAh cell and no official IP rating.
Display and camera technology
Another huge change on the OnePlus 8 Pro will come with its display. It will sport a 6.78-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. On the OnePlus 8 though, it will be a 6.55-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED panel with a 90Hz refresh rate.
As for the camera, the Pro variant will sport a quad-camera setup with dual 48MP sensors alongside a 8MP and 5MP unit. On the regular OnePlus 8, it will be a triple-camera 48MP + 16MP + 2MP configuration. While robust on paper, it will be interesting to see what software tweaks OnePlus has in store for us here. Both smartphones though will share the same 16MP camera for selfies.
Unsurprisingly, both smartphones will run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 5G processor. They will come with either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage coupled with 8GB or 12GB of RAM respectively. As for finish, both smartphones will share a black and green colour variant. But while the glow colour is exclusive to the OnePlus 8, the OnePlus 8 Pro gets an exclusive colour in blue. Nonetheless, the OnePlus 8 Pro in particular is shaping up to be an enviable offering and it will be interesting to see how the company prices the device amongst its competition.
