Samsung fixes Note 5 S-Pen issue

Pen Gate Samsung
Itching to know if mine is an upgraded one!

So if you didn’t already know, when Samsung released the Note 5 the pen-gate scandal was on. What was this issue? Basically, it was noticed that if the S-Pen for any reason was inserted backwards, it would damage its detection sensor. When confronted about this Samsung gave the usual statements ranging from ‘it’s on the warning labels’ to ‘read the manual’.

Yesterday, a Phandroid reader said the current Note 5 models coming from Samsung are able to handle the simple mistake you might make without damaging the sensor. Nobody knows how to identify the models that have the upgrade, but it would be safe to assume that it’s the newer production units.

Samsung obviously has nothing to say about this upgrade since it’s not exactly a new thing for companies to make quiet changes and revisions to the device design post release. So if you recently purchased your Note 5, you might just be able to put your S-Pen in backwards, but there’s no way to verify it (except of course by trying it). Do let us know if you do.
