Nissan and Dubai Police come together to bring “Smart Response”

At this year’s GITEX Technology, whether private or public, all companies have one thing in common, their goals for everything in the UAE beyond 2020. Dubai Police has signed a “Collaboration Agreement” with Nissan Middle East, outlining a partnership that will see the introduction and implementation of a new road safety technology service called “Smart Response”.

Smart Reponse

Keeping in line with their goal for UAE 2021, the “Smart Response” technology is the first of its kind in the region. The technology uses the Nissan SmartCar app (check our review of the app here) which was created by service provider, Bright Box Middle East using exclusive Etisalat M2M SIM Cards, and launched during the 2015 Dubai International Motor Show. Since our review, the app has been updated with multiple features such as Valet Mode, Travel Mode and Self Health Check and now Nissan has added the Smart Response as well.

How does it work?

While the car is in motion,if the system’s on-board accelerometer notices extremely rapid deceleration or unavoidable collisions, the system can communicated with Dubai Police operators, who will then contact the driver to inquire the seriousness of the incident. The appropriate response will then be dispatched. Incase, communication with the driver cannot be established, emergency services can be sent to the last known location of the vehicle.

Nissan SmartCar App

We loved the Nissan SmartCar app when we had it for our review. The service enables you to remotely access your car’s information, start the cars & air conditioning, lock and unlock the cars, control the horn, headlamps, windows, in addition to being able to track their vehicle’s physical location in real-time from anywhere in the world. The app is unfortunately only available in the Nissan Patrol and Maxima models.

Signing Ceremony at GITEX

At the signing ceremony that took place at the Dubai Police stand during GITEX, between Lt. General Khamis Mattar Al Muzainah, Commander-in-chief of Dubai Police and Samir Cherfan, Managing Director of Nissan Middle East, details were announced about Nissan’s “Smart Response Service”, which is to be made available to owners of new Nissan Patrol and Maxima vehicles. In the event of a collision or accident that results in rapid deceleration, the system works in tandem with the patented Nissan SmartCar “control system” that alerts Dubai Police, The General Department of Transport and Rescue, so that the car’s occupants can receive immediate assistance.

The signing ceremony was conducted in the presence of Mr. Michel Ayat, CEO of Arabian Automobiles Co., Nissan authorized dealer in Dubai and northern emirates, and Mr. Ivan Mishanin, CEO of Bright Box Middle East.
