Vaio announces the SX12 ultrabook with up to 9 I/O ports

Do you really need 9 ports on a 12-inch laptop?

The 12.5-inch Vaio SX12 was just announced and it offers all varieties of I/O port options that you will ever need. After releasing the S11, S13 and SX14 (which are 11, 13 and 14 inches respectively) Vaio now is releasing the 12.5-inch Ultrabook in an attempt to cover all ground.

Vaio SX12 details

The Vaio SX12 aims to prove that thin and light laptops don’t have to compromise on connectivity. Well, the SX12 certainly didn’t hold back on its proof. It packs three USB-A ports, one USB-C for charging up the laptop, an HDMI, a full-size SD card slot, a headphone/mic port, an Ethernet port and VGA.

From the looks of it, the SX12 is just a smaller version of the SX14. But the SX12 essentially brings all the I/O ports offered by the SX14 to a smaller form factor. Therefore improving portability without compromising on connectivity. We will have to wait and see if that’s worth settling for sub-par battery life and cramped trackpad.

Pricing

The Vaio SX12 starts at about $1,100 (Dh4,040) and goes up to $2,000, depending on the model. Details on local pricing aren’t available as of now, but stay tuned.
