A couple of months ago, Apple refreshed its MacBook Pro Touch Bar models. This past Tuesday, it did the same to its other MacBook models and also discontinued a few variants in the process. With summer truly upon us, Apple is forking out some good holiday deals. So this might make it the perfect time for you to invest in a MacBook or iPad.
Bye-bye, 12-inch MacBook
Unsurprisingly, Apple has drawn the curtains on its 12-inch MacBook and the older-generation MacBook Air. Looking at this from a business perspective, it is a smart move.
Both these laptops are direct competition to the Retina MacBook Air, which now also comes with a True Tone Retina display. But with them discontinued, Apple’s lineup is just that bit more streamlined.
Touch Bar everything
The entry-level MacBook has also seen an update although we are not sure if Touch Bar skeptics will be happy with this one. It gets both the Touch Bar and Touch ID along with a new eighth-generation Intel quad-core processor. The True Tone Retina display and the T2 security chip also make it on here.
What this change means, though, is that all MacBook Pro variants now come with the Touch Bar. The non-Touch Bar MacBook Pro that featured a physical Escape key is no more.
With school a few weeks away, students can take advantage of Apple’s summer offers. These are also applicable to parents, faculty, staff and home-school teachers.
The new MacBook Air with the Retina True Tone display currently starts at Dh4,417.35. It comes with 8GB of RAM, 128GB of SSD space and Intel UHD 617 graphics. The MacBook Pro retails for Dh5,206.95 for the 13-inch and Dh9,199.05 for the 15-inch variant.
It is also worth noting that Apple is currently bundling a free Beats Studio3 or Solo3 with any Mac or iPad purchase respectively for extra savings.
