Sony launched the RX100 VI in Dubai today, expanding its premium compact camera line-up. The Japanese electronics giant claims its new addition is crafted to deliver the best in image quality, be it indoors or outdoors. Sony also revealed the VCT-SGR1, which is a dedicated shooting grip for the RX100 and RX0 series.
High-quality images in any situation
The new RX100 VI comes packed with a 20.1MP 4 Exmor RS CMOS image sensor with a DRAM chip and an upgraded BIONZ X image processor. This is complemented by a front-end LSI to improve processing speed and optimise image quality in various shooting environments. Thanks to its high-powered zoom lens of both 24-70mm and 70-200mm focal lengths, the RX100 VI can produce high-quality images as well as maintain a large aperture while zooming.
The RX100 VI also packs a Fast Hybrid AF system with 315-point phase-detection AF points on the sensor that can acquire focus in as little as 0.03 seconds. Being the first camera in the series to include Sony’s advanced High-density Tracking AF technology, the RX100 VI concentrates AF points around a subject to improve tracking and focus accuracy. The RX100 VI boasts continuous high-speed shooting at up to 24fps with full AF/AE tracking, with an impressive buffer limit of up to 233 images.
4K video recording
The RX100 VI also includes 4K HDR video recording capabilities. The camera utilises a full pixel readout without pixel binning to ensure that all the finer details of 4K video are captured in the highest quality. Other video features include S-Log3/S-Gamut3, 120p Full HD mode, Picture Profile and proxy recording. The RX100 VI can also record super slow-motion video at either 240, 480 or 960fps.
Made for today’s content creators
With the RX100 VI, Sony has targeted vloggers and travel photographers. The RX100 VI is packed with additional features making it the best choice for upcoming content creators, such as easy sharing options and a fully adjustable LCD screen. Additionally, the VCT-SGR1 shooting grip allows users to adjust angles up 70 degrees or down to 100 degrees to capture different perspectives including high-angle shots, low-angle shots and self-portraits. The grip itself comes with additional buttons for rec stop/start and zoom, and can also transform into a tripod.
