Oppo has finally announced the launch of the R9 and R9 Plus. The devices will be revealed on March 17 at the Beijing Performance Arts Center. The company posted the announcement on Weibo. The phones are being talked about as a perfect mix of the Galaxy S and the iPhone — a pretty big claim to make if you ask us.
Specs aren’t known yet, but rumours based on TENAA listings suggest the devices will come with 5.5″ and 6″ 1080p displays, running octa-core processors and have 4GB of RAM. Storage will stand at 32GB for the R9 and 64GB for the R9 Plus. Both will be expandable up to 128GB through microSD cards. Extremely surprising is the piece of news that the phones will be running Android 5.0 Lollipop, not even 5.1 (Bad Oppo!).
All these rumours will be put to rest at the official announcement, which is about a week away. Until then, keep an eye on this space for more updates.
