There seems to have been another leak courtesy OnLeaks, this time in 3D and via video which you can see below:
After what seemed like a promising smartphone, the LG G5 could not live up to expectations. Just like Samsung’s next move is crucial, LG has a lot riding on its next flagship, the G6. While there hasn’t been any major leak, renders of what looks to be the LG G6 have now appeared thanks to Shai Mizrachi and Android Authority. In the past, Mizrachi has been known to accurately leak future smartphones from LG and Samsung.
Going by the render, the LG G6 will sport a similar design to the G5. It definitely retains the curves but is a bit slimmer (72.43mm vs 73.9mm). This may be good for people who found the G5 difficult to operate with one hand. The handset is also more than likely to be a bit thinner than its predecessor and will retain the headphone jack. Nothing about the front of the device has surfaced in the renders so we’re not sure if LG has reduced the chin and bezel from the G5.
Speaking of chin, another uncertainty is whether LG will keep pushing modularity with the latest flagship. The company may ditch it in favour of just a removable battery like on the V20 or opt for an approach similar to Motorola’s Mods. While specifications for the G6 are far from confirmed, we can expect at least a 5.2-inch QHD display, either a Snapdragon 821 or a Snapdragon 830 octa-core processor, between 4 and 6GB of RAM and the dual camera set-up similar to the one on the V20.
With rumours about flagships in full swing, the next few weeks are a very exciting time. What do you make of the first renders of the LG G6? Are we staring at LG’s newest flagship or will the company come up with something completely different?
