Last week, Lenovo announced that its Tech World strategic technology conference will be held in San Francisco on June 9. The second annual conference brings together industry big-wigs along with Lenovo Chairman and CEO Yang Yuanqing for the keynote address. Tech World will probe the most promising and emerging topics in innovation, including VR, IoT and harnessing the power of the cloud to transform people’s lives.
Tech World 2016 will also host major product announcements, including the launch the world’s first consumer Project Tango-enabled smartphone in partnership with Google. Project Tango brings augmented reality to smartphones, including gaming, navigation, and other utilities. The device provides users a new way to experience the world – from indoor mapping your way around a museum to creating a 3D gaming environment to visualising how a new refrigerator fits in a kitchen.
The Chinese tech giant will also announce new mobile technology designed by Motorola that it claims will “dramatically change the way people think about and use their most personal devices – in a snap”.
“Lenovo is no longer just a PC or smartphone company,” says Yuanqing. “Lenovo will play a role in developing new smart devices, delivering the smart connectivity required to enable new services and experiences, and providing the infrastructure that makes the new connected world possible.
Lenovo will also offer a glimpse of some of the most interesting technology concepts from its labs around the world. These concepts represent the creativity, experimentation and imagination of hundreds of Lenovo and Motorola engineers, designers, and developers across three continents.
