The globally recognised name in mobile phone cases, Incipio is buying the funky and affordable audio accessory brand, Skullcandy. Incipio recently announced its plans to acquire Skullcandy for $177 million (Dh650 million). Skullcandy is Incipio’s latest acquisition across tech accessory brands.
This purchase won’t affect the Skullcandy brand, says Incipio. It wouldn’t make much sense to tamper with a loved brand aesthetic. What we can definitely expect to see is Skullcandy’s penetration into more markets and a bolstered presence in existing markets. Incipio has a variety of licensing deals with premium brands such as Kate Spade and Tumi, so we could see higher-end versions of Skullcandy products as part of these brands. With Incipio’s large roster of products, we can also expect to see Skullcandy’s collaboration with other accessory brands.
