Gamers of the UAE, we’ve got bad news. The much-anticipated regional gaming event, Games Middle East 2016, has been tossed like a PokéBall into next year, organisers said.
Exact dates for 2017 will only be announced by The Alliance LLC after the New Year.
Stuck with Games 2016 tickets?
Don’t worry. The Alliance says if you’ve already bought tickets for the event, which was scheduled to take place from September 24 to 26 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, you should ask the people over to Virgin Megastore for a refund. You’ll need to email them at [email protected] or call 800 VMEGA (86342).
Or wait for Virgin Tickets to call you.
As for why it was postponed, they aren’t saying exactly. But here’s the official statement anyway:
“Following the success of the event last year, organizers and stakeholders have been diligently working to ensure this year’s show exceeds the quality and standards of previous events. Despite a number of fantastic exhibitors, guests, tournaments and activities lined up, the schedule of new game releases and availability of new content has prompted a mutual decision by organizers and strategic partners to postpone the event and ensure the best experience possible is available to fans and enthusiasts from across the Middle East.”
So basically, you’ve got a free weekend in September.
