The Asus ROG Phone 2 was expected to launch around October. Given the fact that the original ROG was quite welcomed by the gamers, Asus is planning to please its fans with an early treat this year. After many reported rumours, it was confirmed that the release date of July 23 was indeed true.
Asus is apparently sending teaser invites to the launch of the ROG Phone 2 on July 23 in China. It posted on Weibo (Chinese social media website) a poster releasing event dates and showcasing collaboration with China’s Tencent Games.
ROG Phone 2 specifications
According to the rumours, the new Asus phone will have a super AMOLED panel with a 120Hz flicker-free refresh rate display. This is an improvement to the screen over the previous gen’s 90Hz display. The phone is also going to have a horizontally lined-up dual camera setup on the back. In addition to this, the phone will come with either an 18W or 30W charger depending on the variant. Regarding the chipset and the RAM, it’s most likely that the phone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 with at least 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage.
Why should gamers be excited?
The recent increase in leaks regarding the ROG phone 2 had us excited in anticipation without knowing the actual release date. Well, all that is about to change since the release date has been finalised. Furthermore, the phone has reportedly passed through various certifications, indicating an imminent release. Not to forget the fact that Asus has also showcased a collaboration with Chinese giant Tencent Games. This is particularly exciting news for the gamers. The collaboration almost certainly means that games produced by Tencent will extensively use features such as the 120Hz display offered by the new ROG Phone.
