Apple announced yesterday that it generated $1.1 billion (Dh4.04 billion) during the 2015 holiday season of two weeks which ended on Jan 3rd, 2016 . The company is calling it the “biggest ever” milestone for the App Store.
Apple has paid out close to $40 billion (Dh147 billion) to developers in the App Store’s young lifespan of eight years. This year’s Christmad and New Year’s both created single-day records of sales worth more then $144 million (Dh529 million).
Apple also mentioned their contribution in job creation, stating that: it has now created 1.9 million jobs in the US (1.4 million of them are related to the community of app creators, software engineers and entrepreneurs building iOS apps),1.2 million jobs in Europe and 1.4 million jobs in China.
During 2015, Apple App Store sales crossed $20 billion of which Apple keeps 30% meaning the company made $6 billion in 2015 post developer payments.
