For Nokia, the budget smartphone market is a very important segment. Here, the Nokia 3.2 and 4.2 are a pair of smartphones serving as a refresh over last year’s Nokia 3.1 and a new entry into the market in the Nokia 4.2. This segment focuses on phones that have a good build quality and are AI- and voice-driven.
The new phones sport a metal core with a polycarbonate 2.5D glass design. Both the 3.2 and 4.2 feature essentials such as a fingerprint scanner as well as AI face unlock. With this, you can unlock your phone in less than two seconds and the technology is spoof proof and fraud resistant. Another neat inclusion is the breathing LED notification light that resides straight on the power button as well as support for NFC.
With emphasis on AI, it becomes an integral part of the camera experience on these phones too. And considering Nokia’s close relationship with Google, both the phones sport a dedicated Google button for easy access to Google Assistant. Google Lens integration built into the devices will also help with AR multimedia on top of Android’s One software experience guaranteed with three years of software upgrades.
With the Nokia 3.2, you find a 6.26-inch 19:9 panel and a large 4,000mAh battery. In combination, the phone is capable of up to two days’ worth of battery on a single charge thanks to Android 9.0’s adaptive battery technology. As for performance, you will get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 429 processor.
Coming in 2GB RAM and 16GB storage or 3GB RAM and 32GB configurations, the phone will be available starting in May for Dh469 and Dh569 respectively in a black or steel finish.
The Nokia 4.2 is a more high-end phone in the same price bracket. It features a 5.71-inch display in a slightly more premium feeling body. The phone comes with an upgraded Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 series processor but a lower-capacity 3,000mAh battery.
On the back, the phone sports dual-cameras with a 13MP sensor and an additional depth-sensor. Again, availability for this phone starts in May from Dh599 in black and pink finishes.
