As we predicted, this year has been the year of foldable smartphones. But arguably, the phone that has garnered all the attention is Motorola’s Razr. Announced in November, it seems the phone is now up for pre-registration in the UAE.
Pre-registration via du
A couple of days ago, du tweeted out that the new Motorola Razr is coming soon to the region.
The tweet does not tell us much about the phone’s pricing nor about when it will be available. However, it does mention that the foldable smartphone is imminent.
By heading to the online registration page, you are greeted with a form to fill up. It is not anything specific but you will be the first know about the Motorola Razr’s availability by doing so.
Just in case you have forgotten, the phone will come with mid-range processing power. This includes the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 octa-core processor, 128GB of storage and 6GB RAM. The primary screen is a foldable P-OLED touchscreen with a 6.2-inch size. When folded, the exterior of the phone sports a G-OLED 2.7-inch display for notifications and the time. As for the camera, it seems to be a dual-unit with a 16MP primary lens and a TOF 3D camera alongside.
Already a hit?
While we have seen high-end foldable smartphones like Samsung’s Galaxy Fold and the Huawei Mate X this year, Motorola wants to aim at the mid-range segment with a completely different design. By reducing on the internals and bringing back the nostalgia of its popular Razr series from back in the day, it seems to be working. We are excited to get our hands on one and manufacturers like Samsung are already working on a second-generation foldable device, to capitalise on this interest.
