Motorola announces G4 and G4 Plus

Moto G4 fam

Motorola yesterday announced the latest successor in the Moto G series, this time with two more variants, with the Moto G4, Moto G4 Plus and Moto G4 Play. While the G4 and G4 Plus are mostly the same phone, the Play is a entirely difference device.

The G4 and G4 Plus come with a few upgrades over the third-generation Moto G. They have a 1080p 5.5-inch display, which is a decent bump from the 5-inch 720p display on their predecessor. They’re both powered by the Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor with 2GB RAM/16GB ROM or 4GB RAM/32 or 64GB ROM and storage models. Both are also expandable by microSD cards up to 128GB. The devices come with a 3,000mAh battery with TurboPower fast charging. The differences between the G4 and G4 Plus are in two ways. First, the G4 Plus has a fingerprint sensor, and second, it comes with a 16MP rear camera with a f/2.0 aperture, big pixels, laser and phase detection. Motorola seems to be stressing a lot on this camera as its claim the snapper has a higher DxOMark than the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. The Moto G4 comes with a 13MP rear cam. Both have a 5MP front snapper. Moto Maker customisation will be available too.

We don’t have complete details on the Play yet, but do know it will come with a 5-inch 720p display, a Snapdragon 410 processor, 8MP camera, splashpoofing and a 2,800mAh battery. It will obviously be the cheapest of the three in the series.

There’s no news yet on availability or pricing on this side of the world but we’ll keep you posted as we learn know more.
