Huawei’s Honor phones come with great specs at lower prices to compete in emerging markets. At times, its Honor devices outmatch its flagship P Series as well. This year’s Honor flagship, the Honor 9, has been officially announced in Berlin. The Chinese brand is going with the slogan “Beautifully Brilliant”, with Huawei using alliteration to convey the phone’s qualities.
The Honor 9 has a sleek 3D curved glass back with a metal bezel giving the phone a firm, classy feel. Huawei does very well with its cameras and the Honor 9 will do just that with a 20MP and 12MP dual-lens snapper. The dual-lens camera promises a superior low-light shooting experience and a dual-lend hybrid zoom function. “An audiophile’s dream” is how Huawei is coining the Honor 9’s audio quality thanks to the Huawei Histen 3D audio technology. Its innovative ultra-wide 3D sound field technology allows you to enjoy virtual surround sound through earphones.
It comes baked with the Kirin 960 chipset with up to 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The display is a 5.15-inch FHD screen with a 428ppi density offering true-to-life colour reproduction and colour saturation levels of up to 96 per cent. The Honor 9 is claimed to have multiple modes allowing you to glance at your screen perfectly under all outdoor conditions. A powerful 3,200mAh battery should ensure a decent day’s worth of usage and comes with fast charging. The Honor 9 will come with Huawei’s latest EMUI 5.1 based on Android Nougat.
“2017 has brought a renaissance in smart phone design, and the Honor 9 is a trend-setting device that brings the best of fashion, craftsmanship, and engineering together,” said George Zhao, President of Honor. “The contemporary design, stunning light reflection effect, and the futuristic colors of the Honor 9 will let millennials stand out and express their fierce individuality.”
If you’re on the lookout for a new phone that won’t break the bank, the device will launch in the UAE and Saudi Arabia this summer. It’s expected to be priced around Dh1,799.
