Huawei Freelace: A clever reply to OnePlus’ Bullet wireless earphones

The Huawei Freelace come around in a world cramped with wireless headphones and provide what seems to be an affordable and long lasting solution

Huawei has come up with a new pair of wireless earphones called the FreeLace. While similar to the Bullet from OnePlus, it comes with a quirky little twist of its own.

Freelace: All things type-C

The new neckbuds from Huawei can be separated or disconnected from one another near the voice buttons. That in turn exposes the built-in USB-C plug that can be plugged into any Huawei smartphone for either seamless Bluetooth pairing or simply charging the buds.

This unique feature allows users to be free for extra charging cables or connectors while carrying their devices.

FreeLace wireless earphone specifications

The FreeLace is built with ‘memory metal’ wrapped in liquid silicon to provide great aesthetics and feel. The buds are rated to last for 18 hours of playback or 13 hours of talk time on single charge but we’ll only know if this is true when we review the devices. Furthermore, it’s fast charge capability allows for additional four hours’ usage off of a five-minute charge.

The audio driver in each of the magnetic buds is a 9.2mm-diameter unit. These allow for an overall better audio and music playback quality from the earbuds. The magnetic earbuds also provide seamless pause/play functionality. You can simply attach and detach the earbuds for pause or play respectively.

Additionally, the device offers IPX5-certification for water and sweat resistance making it great for workout sessions.

Huawei Freelace: Pricing and availability

The Huawei FreeLace will be available in black, orange and green for Dh299 across major retailers in the UAE.
