Vivo’s gaming sub-brand iQOO and its next smartphone has been leaked and teased extensively in the past. But it is finally official. The iQOO 3 5G sports Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 processor, liquid-cooling technology and UFS 3.1 storage.
Super AMOLED Full HD+ display
On the front, you find a 6.44-inch Super AMOLED Full HD+ panel. The brand calls this the Polar View Display, which can reach a maximum brightness of 1,200 nits and supports HDR10+ content. To reduce input lag, the display supports a 180Hz touch sampling rate even though the panel’s refresh rate is standard at 60Hz.
The top right of the display houses a punch-hole style notch, with a 16MP selfie camera. Aside from this, there is a quad-camera setup on the back. A 48MP Sony IMX582 main sensor is joined by a 13MP telephoto shooter, a 13MP ultra-wide angle snapper and a 2MP depth sensor.
55W Super FlashCharge technology
Vivo’s iQOO 3 5G is based on its iQOO UI 1.0 on top of Android 10. With it comes its Ultra Game Mode letting you block incoming notifications when gaming. To take things further, the smartphone even has two shoulder buttons on its left edge. The company calls them Monster Touch buttons. These can map functions such as shooting or aiming in a game and combined with the phone’s 4D game vibrations, you get a more true to life experience. Holding these buttons down activates its Monster Mode that runs the phone’s processor at 100 per cent but that will definitely take a toll on battery life.
To combat this, the smartphone comes with 55W Super FlashCharge capabilities. According to iQOO, this technology can charge the 4,400mAh battery on the phone up to 50 per cent in just 15 minutes. Aside from this, one of the key selling points of the iQOO 3 is its 5G connectivity.
