Intel yesterday launched the 11th generation of their chipsets (Tiger Lake) coming to a multitude of laptops this fall. The latest generation of Intel processors will come with the company’s new integrated Xe graphics, Thunderbolt 4 support, Wi-Fi 6, and a big leap in performance and battery life over the previous generation of chips.
Showcasing a whole range of upcoming thin and light laptops from brands like Samsung, Dell, HP, Lenovo and more, the chipset manufacturer promised up to 2.7x faster content creation, more than 20% faster office productivity and more than 2x faster gaming plus streaming in real-world workflows.
Touting their new SuperFin process technology, the 11th generation Intel Core processors will optimize power efficiency with performance and responsiveness while running at significantly higher frequencies versus prior generations. More than 150 designs based on 11th Gen Intel Core processors are expected from partners including Acer, Asus, Dell, Dynabook, HP, Lenovo, LG, MSI, Razer, Samsung and others.
“11th Gen Intel Core processors with Intel Iris Xe graphics are a major leap forward in real-world processor performance and are the best laptop processors we have built,” said Gregory Bryant, Intel executive vice president and general manager of the Client Computing Group. “From productivity and content creation to entertainment and gaming, when you pick a system powered by 11th Gen Intel Core – especially one of our new Intel Evo co-engineered and verified designs – you know you are getting the best laptop experience possible.”

With a heavy focus on the new integrated Xe graphics, Intel displayed a few instances with photo editing, video rendering and gaming to show the increase in graphic performance in the new chipset.
There is also now support for 8K displays and up to four 4K displays simultaneously. The AI engine on the chipset takes a significant bump with improvements in features such as background blurring and noise cancellation.
“The new 11th Gen Intel® Core™ processors with Iris® Xe graphics are delivering incredible performance and responsiveness to enable Windows customers around the world to be more productive and have fun today and in the future,” said Panos Panay, chief product officer, Microsoft.
Like last year’s Project Athena, Intel introduced a new set of standards for laptops with Key Experience Indicators (KEIs) to ensure high-levels of customer satisfaction and device functionality. The new parameters will include parameters such as a system wake-up in ‘less than a second’, 9 hours of real-world usage battery-life, fast charging (up to 4 hours of use in 30 minutes of charging), Wi-Fi 6 and Thunderbolt 6.
Intel – New Logo
Intel yesterday also refreshed their logo for the third time in 51 years. The logo aimed at showing the brand’s new minimalist theme across Intel’s ecosystem.
