LG V30: Display

This is the first time LG has opted for P-OLED display technology in its smartphones. The screen is the same as that used in the South Korean brand’s TV panels. It promises to deliver deeper blacks and a faster response time.

LG’s V30 has adopted 2017’s bezel-less trend, but ditches the V series’ removable battery

At 6 inches, the plastic OLED panel is the same FullVision display we saw on the LG G6 earlier this year. At a resolution of QHD+ (2,880 x 1,440) and an aspect ratio of 18:9, you will receive more screen real estate and resolution in a body that is more compact than previous V series devices.

LG V30: Camera

Rear camera:

The LG V30 is the first phone to come with an f/1.6 aperture for better dynamic range and light capture. Incorporating glass lenses over plastic ones, the V30 is capable of delivering more accurate colours than before.

The V30’s dual camera set-up pairs an OIS/EIS 16MP f/1.6 snapper with a 120-degree wide-angle lens

Continuing on the dual camera set-up, LG has gone for a primary 16MP and a wide 13MP combination for the V30. The primary 16MP camera captures more detail and comes with optical and electronic image stabilisation. The wide angle sensor also comes upgraded on the V30 showing two-thirds less edge distortion than previous models.

The front 5MP camera from the LG G6 makes a return.

LG V30: Multimedia

This year, LG has focused a lot on delivering the complete multimedia experience on the LG V30. With film-making in mind, the company has added features such as a Cine Video mode to its camera suite.

Here, you can use Point Zoom to intuitively zoom in at a certain object in the video and Cine Effect, which allows them to use pallet presets to change the mood of recorded footage.

An array of post-production tools promise to make the V30 a video-maker’s dream

For power users, a revamped manual mode features Graphy integration that lets them apply camera presets such as white balance and ISO from professionally taken photos to mimic their looks. For videographers, LG Cine Log saves more accurate colours that can be tweaked in post production to achieve the look they are going for.

Even on the audio front, the V30 is equipped with a Hi-Fi Quad DAC system with multiple filters for an optimal listening experience. Globally, the phone is the first to feature Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) technology for streaming high-quality music.

LG V30: Availability

The LG V30 will be available in the South Korean market starting September 21. The Middle Eastern market will follow suit, but there’s no confirmation of pricing and availability just yet.

It will be offered in four colours, aurora black, cloud silver, moroccan blue and lavender violet in 64GB variants whereas the 128GB LG V30+ will sell in limited markets.
