Huawei rolls out EMUI 9.1 to 25 smartphone models in the UAE


For a few years now, Huawei has promised 18 months of longevity on their devices, promising continuous updates which will keep users devices fast and responsive as well as provide them with all the new features as they come along. Keeping to that promise, Huawei has rolled out the new EMUI 9.1 update for its 25 smartphone models in the UAE.

The update is available starting with Huawei’s Mate 20 series, including Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 X, and Porsche Design Mate 20 RS, and will continue through long line-up of prior Huawei smartphones. Continuing its contribution to Android development, its latest version EMUI 9.1 (based on Android 9.0 Pie), is expected to increase efficiency, speed, security and performance of these Huawei devices. 

Among the features, Huawei users can expect to see the following differences:

A more efficient file system

EMUI 9.1 features EROFS, a new super file system with improved file compression and 20% higher random read performance. This inturn increases the speed of routine use as well as application launch speeds by 10%. 

Improved gaming performance

EMUI 9.1 also upgrades GPU Turbo into version 3.0, supporting 25 games. It improves performance further while reducing device power consumption. It is bringing a more stable gaming experience and a high frame rate to users. In addition, AI image scheduling smoothens jagged edges in images, improves clarity in dark environments, enriches image details, and further improves visual experience for players.

Moon mode’ comes to everyone

The upgrade also brings super zoom’s “moon mode” (originally brought on the Huawei P30 Pro) to the Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20 X, helping the smartphone take better moon photos through the super zoom capability of its Leica triple camera. 

An enhanced user experience

EMUI 9.1 features redesigned themes and icons, improved performance, as well as cutting-edge technologies, bringing you a colorful all-scenario AI experience and a higher quality of life. 

A new call receiving experience

The new “incoming call video show” feature replaces the traditional monotonous system ring tone and interface. Users can set different self-made or third-party videos as the incoming call displays for different contacts.

The EMUI 9.1 update roadmap in the UAE: 

Four flagship Huawei models, Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 X, and Porsche Design Mate 20 RS can be upgraded to EMUI 9.1 from 25thJune 2019 through the HiCare app.

Huawei will also begin pushing the HOTA EMUI 9.1 update to all Huawei Mate20 series devices from 1stJuly 2019

  • June 2019: Porsche Design Mate 20 RS, Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 X, nova 3e, P Smart, Y9 2018
  • July 2019: P20, P20 Pro, Porsche design Mate RS, Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, Y6 Prime 2019, nova 4, nova 3.
  • August 2019: P10, P10 Plus, Porsche Design Mate 9, Mate 9, Mate 9 Pro, nova3i, P30 Lite, Y9 Prime 2019, Y9 2019, Y5 2019.
