Huawei, alongside announcing its new foldable Mate Xs, also upgraded its laptop range at its recent virtual event. Its flagship MateBook X Pro comes with more recent internals while the MateBook D-series comprises of a 14-inch and 15.6-inch device.

New MateBook X Pro

Design wise, the MateBook X Pro remains identical to its predecessor. Alongside the usual grey and silver finishes, there is also a new green colour option this time. But inside, the laptop comes equipped with Intel’s new 10th-generation processors. Both the Core i5-10510U and Core i7-10510U are based on a 14nm++ manufacturing process with four hyper-threaded cores clocked at a base frequency of 1.8GHz going up to 4.9GHz with Turbo Boost.

Internals aside, the rest of the hardware remains unchanged. You find a 13.9-inch IPS panel on the laptop with a 3,000 x 2,000 resolution. The display is capable of a 1,500:1 contrast ratio and 450 nits brightness. For graphics processing, you also find a variant with the Nvidia GeForce MX250 discrete GPU accompanied by 2GB of GDDR5 dedicated VRAM.

MateBook D 14 and 15

Indicative from their names, these are Huawei’s more budget oriented 14-inch and 15.6-inch laptops. They come with 1,920 x 1,080 resolution displays with a more pronounced bottom bezel compared to the MateBook X Pro.

Interestingly, you do get a better selection of internal hardware here. Aside from Intel’s Core i5-10210U and Core i7-10510U, you can also configure either laptop with AMD’s Ryzen 5 3500U CPU. Depending on your choice, you either get Nvidia’s GeForce MX250 or Radeon Vega 8 graphics. Both variants support up to 8GB of RAM and you can configure up to 512GB of SSD storage on the MateBook D 14. The MateBook D 15 can hold an extra HDD as well.
