We recently got our hands on Huawei’s second foldable flagship, the Mate Xs. Unfolding in a completely direction from their main competitor, the Huawei Mate Xs is a refined version last year’s Mate X folding phone.
Huawei Mate Xs – Everything you need to know
First things first, the Huawei Mate Xs unfolds from a 6.6″ smartphone into an 8″ tablet. All this thanks to the company’s Falcon Wing design made with more than 100 interlocking parts using a zirconium-based liquid metal that allows for a full 180-degree fold. Thanks to the fact that the screen wraps around the phone when folded in, the back of the device has a 6.38″ secondary display which can be used for things like taking selfies using the main cameras.
Next up are the internals. The Mate Xs is powered by the Kirin 990 5G processor and a 16-core Mali-G76 GPU, 8GB of RAM and has 512GB of storage. Keeping cameras on par with the rest of the smartphone space, the devices comes with their SuperSensing Leica Quad Camera system featuring a 40MP main camera, 16MP ultra-wide angle camera, 8MP telephoto camera and a 3D Depth Sensing Camera. A Flying Fish Fin Cooling System keeps everything running at peak performance while a bespoke 5G antenna ensures high speed and stable connectivity.
Last but not least, the Huawei Mate Xs comes with Huawei Mobile Services and HUAWEI AppGallery out of the box. Whether GMS will be able to be side loaded is yet to be seen.
