The Huawei FreeBuds Pro is a premium pair of TWS earbuds, incorporating a lot of desirable features such as active noise cancellation and wireless charging. Earlier, we took a look at the FreeBuds 3i from the company and this pair seems like a natural upgrade.
Premium build quality
In the box, you find the FreeBuds Pro alongside replacement rubber tips, paperwork and a Type-A to Type-C USB cable of generous length. Usually, earbuds tend to be bundled with shorter charging cables. But seeing a longer one included out of the box is convenient and a nice touch.
Moving to the Freebuds Pro, it is housed in a premium case. Different from the usual white colour finishes we see, it comes in Silver Frost. Not only is this shade unique but it also adds a metallic and matte look to the case, complementing its premium feel. The case’s hinge is robust and has a solid feel in the hand complete an LED indicator and a Type-C port for charging the case.Aside from wired charging, the case also supports wireless charging.
Magnetically housed in the case, the earbuds have a contrasting appearance. Instead of continuing with the matte theme, you get a glossy finish. The earbuds immediately stand out although because of how they are placed, they are bit hard to pry out. Nonetheless, the earbuds have a much smaller and boxier stem to them. And quite naturally, they look smaller in your ear which is welcome.
The design is not a revolution like the Samsung Galaxy Buds Live but is different enough. Thus far, the earbuds have felt light and did not give us any problems with comfort. Inside the casing too, you find another LED indicator, which we presume is for the buds’ battery capacity.
Having used the Huawei FreeBuds Pro sparingly so far, we will follow up with more extensive testing. This will include battery endurance, sound quality, latency and day-to-day convenience. We will also try to weigh these up against similar offerings from other brands to give you an overall perspective on their performance.
