Originally, HMD Global’s Nokia was scheduled to hold a launch in Barcelona as part of MWC 2020. But due to the cancellation of the expo altogether, the even was cancelled. Now, HMD will hold a new event on March 19 in London.
No solid clues or teasers
The invite to the event does not give us any clues on what to expect. But chief product officer of HMD Global Juho Sarvikas has taken to Twitter to tease the event a bit more.
Going by the double-O reference in the video teaser, a James Bond 007 collaboration could be in the works. With the franchise having worked with previous Nokia-branded products in the past, you cannot rule out the possibility.
Nokia’s budget 5G smartphone?
We have previously seen a live leak of Nokia’s supposed 5.2 smartphone courtesy of Evan Blass, with four rear cameras, a water-drop screen and a 6GB/64GB RAM/storage configuration. This phone was set to go on sale on March 4 before the cancellation of HMD Global’s MWC event.
There are talks also of a possible Nokia 5G smartphone, supposedly the Nokia 8.2. HMD has previously confirmed that it is working on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 series phone. This will also include Zeiss optics and PureDisplay technology. One thing we will certainly not see is the Nokia 9.2 PureView, which is scheduled for the second half of this year.
