Electronic Arts jumped the gun yesterday with an early press conference of its annual E3 EA Play session. Of the flurry of games it announced, Star Wars Battlefront 2 is the most exciting.
We were able to catch glimpses of its single player and multiplayer game modes and we’re itching to get our hands on this game. The most delightful addition is the Single Player campaign, which the first game lacked. EA also promises us 3 times more content than the first game.
Single Player Mode
From the little game play that we’ve seen, you play as Imperial Inferno Squad commander Iden Versio who wants to exact revenge against the Rebel Alliance. Expect long cut scenes and lots of dialogue mixed in with extremely expressive characters. Without giving out any other spoilers, the campaign takes place between the Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens timelines.
There are impressive space battles and beautifully designed set pieces as you progress through the game. Expect to weave in and out of combat and stealth modes and straight into dogfights in this mode. It might feel strange to play on the Empires side, but the overwhelming sense of nostalgia and sheer fun this game will provide will keep you distracted from the dark path you walk.
As interesting as the single player campaign sounds, nothing excites more than the Battlefront 2 multiplayer mode. The trailer demonstrates the sheer immensity of the game. EA has pulled out all the stops. They have characters, locations, and vehicles that span the entire 40 year history of the Star Wars Universe.
Fans can rejoice at the fact that they will be able to play as Kylo Ren, Luke Skywalker, Darth Maul and so many more characters. EA has added more customization options for all characters including heroes to add more flavours to the game play. Basically, this game will fix all the shortcomings of an already impressive first installment and make it even more epic.
Players should be able to enter the Battlefront 2 universe November 17th onward. The game will be available on Playstation 4, PC and XBox One.
