HMD Global, owner of the Nokia mobile brand, has a lot of phones coming out in the near future so it may be hard to keep track. A new CAD render reveals a case for a phone that doesn’t match up to the many rumours already swirling. A case with a five-camera setup neatly arranged in a flower shape has been making the rounds recently. It’s thought to be the Nokia 9, the brand’s biggest flagship yet. However, we know that’s not true.
Upcoming Nokia phone launch
We know HMD is having a big event in Dubai on December 5. We can expect three phones to be launched thanks to the event poster. Expect the Nokia 8.1, Nokia 7.1 Plus and the Nokia 2.1 Plus.
No flagship event takes place in December and definitely wouldn’t be pitted with other phone launches, considering the Nokia 9 is supposed to be HMD’s biggest flagship launch. So it’s safe to assume the Nokia 9 will be revealed in 2019 and the five-camera setup should be expected at the December event right here in Dubai.
This five-camera setup seems to be one of many future innovations to keep phones selling year-on-year. There’s no surprise Nokia could be going down this route. Thanks to the renders, we can see cutouts for two speakers on the bottom with a USB-C slot in between. The volume rocker and power keys come on the side and a small hole for the noise canceling mic can be seen as well. The back is where the magic happens: seven circular holes with one for the LED flash, one for the PDAF laser and five for the lens.
We’ll know a lot more after the December 5 event and will keep you updated right here.
