A few months after Facebook-owned WhatsApp reached the milestone of one billion active users, its sister service Facebook Messenger reaches it too. Messenger reached one billion downloads last year.
To celebrate the achievement, Facebook Messenger released the following video:
Facebook acquired WhatsApp for a reported $19 billion (Dh 70 billion) in 2014. Apple has said Messenger is the second most downloaded application on iOS (after Facebook’s own app). On Android, WhatsApp and Messenger are the top two most-downloaded free apps, while Facebook is number four behind rival chat app imo.
This in-house rivalry is working magic for Facebook, as both messengers are constantly updating to stay ahead of one another. Which messenger do you prefer? Let us know.
