Destiny 2 release dates for consoles and PC announced

Destiny 2 is easily one of the most anticipated games at this year’s E3. At Sony’s press conference last night we were treated to some exclusive trailers and reveals. Destiny 2 will hit the consoles; PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 6th, 2 days earlier than the initial reported September 8th. PlayStation 4 players will get access to exclusive Destiny 2 content in the form of “Lake of Shadows” strike, unnamed gear, the “City Apex” ship, the “Borealis” exotic weapon and the “Retribution” PvP map.

Destiny’s initial installment was a console exclusive, an annoyance to PC gamers as it promised to be one of best FPS games of its time. Luckily Bungie realized this and are bringing Destiny 2 to PC gamers as well. As always, PC gamers will have to wait a while longer to get their hands on it. October 24th is the PC release date for Destiny 2. PC players can expect support for advance visual features such as 4K resolution with an uncapped frame rate. Destiny was a beautiful game and Destiny 2 promises to be nothing short of visually stunning.

Destiny 2’s beta will roll out gradually from a small set of players on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One to eventually encompass anyone that owns one of the consoles. It’s similar to the beta rollout of the first installment of the game. The beta will debut Tuesday, July 18 for pre-orders on PS4. These players will have 24 hours of exclusive early access. Xbox One pre-order customers will be able to start playing the beta a day later on July 19. Two days later, on July 21, the beta will open up to all PS4 and Xbox One owners. The beta will end on Sunday, July 23.

No specific details were provided for the PC beta. Activision said it will be available “late August” with further details coming soon. Maybe we’ll know more at Gamescom in August.
