LG to unveil smart and diverse speaker line-up at CES

We ThinkQ might need to hear about this

Like every year, LG is set to refresh its line of speakers at CES 2018. In conjunction with Dolby Atmos and Meridian Audio, the company aims to offer a speaker for every music enthusiast.

A TV soundbar?

The SK10Y soundbar features a modern and slim design that is easily housed under many LG 2018 OLED or Super UHD TV models. Using Dolby Atmos, the soundbar brings a unique twist in adding “sound objects” to the listening experience. These can be precisely placed anywhere for added realism and an immersive sound experience from multiple directions. For this, the soundbar comes equipped with multiple speakers including two up-firing ones to envelope the listener from all angles.

Quite a minimal looking design for the SK10Y soundbar from LG

With Meridian Audio, a high level of performance is derived from the the soundbar. The technology brings extra clarity to speech and audio with support for high-quality lossless audio files. A feature we are excited to see is the soundbar’s upconverting technology, which changes standard audio tracks into 24bit to enhance detail.

All things considered, the soundbar remains very accessible. It can pair with a variety of hubs and smart devices that support Chromecast. And playing your favourite song or podcast can be as simple as saying “OK Google”.

Pocket speaker?

The PK series speaker combines powerful sound with mood lighting that can be taken anywhere. These deliver powerful bass with optimised options for speech and vocals. With wireless support via Apt-X HD Bluetooth, the quality of 24bit streamed music comes close to original.

Quality audio on the go

In addition, the speaker features dynamic party lighting for a visual flair that synchronizes with the sound. And because of their rugged design, the speakers are convenient to grip during commute.

Smart assistant on a speaker?

An LG first, the ThinkQ Speaker is a high-quality speaker certified by Meridian Audio with Google Assistant built in. The speaker can deliver all the convenience of a digital assistant and more if you own an LG appliance wherein it also acts as a personalised voice-activated interface to control the home appliances.

Could this compete with Amazon’s Alexa and Google’s Home?

Speaker for your party?

Specifically designed for parties, these are all-in-one devices. Coupled with powerful 1,800W audio, DJ capabilities, karaoke modes and lights, these are bound to make you groove on the dance floor. Furthermore, they come with durable form factors, an easy to use control interface and many connectivity options. Hence this allows you to download or stream an unlimited number of dance tracks.
