TCL is set to announce the BlackBerry DTEK70 (Mercury) at CES in Las Vegas today. But as with everything in technology these days, the smartphone has leaked prematurely. A new set of renders alleged to be the DTEK70 have shown up on popular Chinese micro-blogging website, Weibo. The post shows the front and back of the black variant of the handset.
The front of the device seems to adhere to what we know so far. It lines up well with previous leaks about the device in December. In addition, the handset also seems to sport a physical keyboard similar to the one teased by TCL yesterday.
In addition to the front, the leak also outlines how the back of the device will look. It reveals a prominent camera module on the top left rumoured to contain an 18MP sensor. In traditional fashion, the BlackBerry logo is seen in the middle of the device, which seems to carry a faux leather finish and a metallic build making for a premium offering.
The post goes on to detail the specifications of the device as well. Apparently, it will sport a 4.2-inch display and be powered by the Snapdragon 625 SoC and 3GB of RAM. On-board storage will be set to 32GB while it will pack a rather large 3,400mAh battery. Interestingly, neither the front or back shows any signs of a fingerprint scanner, which doesn’t seem to line up with previous rumours.
With the device to be announced shortly, this may be a credible leak. However, the inconsistencies in specifications makes us question it. Do you think we are really staring at the BlackBerry DTEK70? Let us know what you think below.
