BenQ GW2780T and Screenbar Plus – eye care that protects and productivity that matters

BenQ’s GW2780T is equipped with a standard 1080p IPS panel that incorporates AH-IPS (Advanced High Performance – In-Plane Switching) with a 250-nit peak brightness. It comes with an impressive 1000:1 contrast ratio and a 60Hz refresh rate to deliver vivid visuals and smooth performance. It is packed with a variety of productivity and eye care features. It has a unique Brightness Intelligence Technology that is exclusive to BenQ and can automatically adjust the screen brightness according to the ambient lighting owing to its built-in sensor. This feature is especially handy in situations of increased brightness like working during the day time or from in front of a window as it helps protect users’ eyes from excessive light. This technology proves to be instrumental for students who are studying for long hours or professionals who need to spend lengthy periods on their system.

The GW2780T sports other features for enhanced extended viewing as well. BenQ’s advanced flicker-free display and low blue light technology dramatically reduce eye strain, fatigue and headache even after hours of continuous usage to provide more comfortable viewing experiences for all kinds of users.

It comes with an IPS display that sports a super quick response time speed of 5ms, ensuring that there isn’t any lag or delay in between inputs and the resulting on-screen outputs. While there’s no AMD Freesync or Nvidia G-Sync support, but it is important to note that this isn’t a gaming monitor. BenQ’s GW2780T eye-care monitor supports 8-bit colour via dithering (6-bit + 2-bit FRC) and covers the sRGB colour space to provide vibrant displays. BenQ has also unveiled the Screenbar Plus which is a USB-powered clip-on light that blocks out blue light and improves lighting conditions on one’s work desk significantly. GW2780T’s height adjustment stand allows users to find the most suitable viewing angles to help with a comfortable working position. It offers an extensive range of monitor adjustments that enable users to position the monitor according to their precise seating setting, making it great for digital learning and working from home, both of which have become the norm during the ongoing pandemic. This all-round performer from BenQ comes with a wide array of ports that include HDMI, VGA, and a DisplayPort which is usually missing in other monitors in the same price segment. It also has a 3.5mm headphone jack and two 1W integrated speakers which deliver reasonably decent sound quality for regular usage.

The BenQ ScreenBar Plus delivers up to 500 lux of lighting across eight different colour temperatures ranging from 2700K to 6500K. It has been designed to meet IEEE PAR1789 standards for regulating flicker and is also IEC/TR 62778 certified which means it poses zero blue-light risk. The LED light source designed by BenQ is not just high quality, it has been developed to do away with the irritation caused to eyes through flickering and harmful exposure to blue light. It is power via USB, so one doesn’t have to deal with bulky power adapter setup and can simply plug the ScreenBar Plus directly into a free USB port on their monitors itself. The clip on ScreenBar is quite unique and has been patented by BenQ as it does not use any adhesive, or screws, or even a spring-clamp pressure. It uses an intelligent adjustable weight and lip system that can fit over monitors with an of edge measuring up to 1.18-inches thick.
