PC-like gaming in your back pocket

However, in true ROG fashion, the Asus ROG Phone is more than just looks and packs a lot of raw power under its hood. It is Asus’s first phone to come with over 8GB of RAM and storage options of 128GB or 512GB. The Phone comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, the fastest processor by the manufacturer which clocks in at 2.96GHz, leaving most of this year’s flagships in the dust.

However, since the phone is made for gaming, naturally it will demand a lot of power. To ensure the phone keeps its cool, the overclocked processor will come with a new vapour cooling system and a detachable cooler. Additionally, you can also squeeze the sides of the phone (similar to the HTC Edge Sense), which will instantly switch the phone into X Mode, which optimizes the phone’s gaming performance by shutting down background processes and prioritizing RAM allocation. It also gives the phone a red glow and a different UI skin.

For the gamer, by the gamer

Keeping gamers in mind, the Asus ROG Phone comes with a few features and accessories that will enhance gameplay. The Phone comes with USB Type C ports on the side, which makes it easier to connect hardware to the Phone, along with a pair of programmable shoulder buttons called AirTriggers. The accessories are a major part of the ROG Phone. These include a classic gamepad controller which fixes on the phone and puts buttons and analog sticks on either side of the display. This controller, called Gamevice, works with a WiGig Dock to wirelessly stream to a display.

You can also get a secondary display that attaches to the phone to make it a dual screen device. This 6-inch 1080p TwinView Dock comes with its own 6000 mAh battery, shoulder buttons and a quad speaker system and cooling systems. There is also another dock that allows you to connect the Phone to your PC, and thanks to extra ports, you can connect a monitor, keyboard and mouse, or just use the Phone as an auxiliary display.

Pricing and availability are yet to be confirmed, but we can expect a heavy price tag given its specs and features. As of now, we know that the additional fan will be included in the box, but we don’t have any information regarding the other accessories. Oh, and did we mention that it comes with RGB lighting as well?
