Asus launches the world’s slimmest 13″ and 14″ laptops with the Zenbook 13 and 14

Today on a virtual event, Asus updated the 13 and 14″ versions of the Zenbook series. The Zenbook series 13 and 14 are now the world’s slimmest 13 and 14″ laptops but come making almost no sacrifices to I/O ports on the devices.

Asus Zenbook 13 and 14

As the Asus Zenbook 13/14 are focused on on-the-move working professionals, the brand focused on the laptop’s size, I/O and battery-life.

Body and I/O

The 2020 Asus Zenbook 13 and 14 will come with an all-aluminum body. Both models are thinner than their predecessors by 3-4mms and weigh 1.07kgs and 1.13kgs respectively. The body is also MIL-STD 810G rated. So that should make for a heavily durable laptop.

One huge focus on the laptops is the fact that the they do not compromise on ports even though it had a very slim form-factor. The laptops come with 1 HDMI 2.0b port, 2 Thunderbolt 3 type-C ports, 1 USB type-A port and 1 micro-SD card reader. One sacrifice the laptops do make is that off the 3.5mm headphone jack, it is gone! Thats being said the brand will be including a USB type-C to 3.5mm dongle in the box.

The keyboard is also ‘edge-to-edge’ and is backlit. It’s not a full-size keyboard but certain variants of the laptops will come with the trackpad variant where it has a number pad which can be activated when needed.

Asus Zenbook 13 and 14 Battery

The Asus Zenbook 13 and 14 are said to come with up to 22 hours of battery-life, thanks to its 4-cell 67wh battery. The laptop also supports fast-charging. Thanks to the type-C charging, you can even charge the laptop with a battery-pack.

The Zenbook 13 and 14 come with Asus’ NanoEdge display. The display is an IPS Full HD variant and had a 90% screen-to-body ratio. On the sides, the edges of the laptops are 2.5mm. The laptop display is also capable of running at just 1W power-usage but only when the display is at up to 35% brightness and 150 nits. On regular use, the screen can hit brightness of 450 nits.

The Asus Zenbook 13 and 14 will come with both Intel and AMD version. The Intel 13 and 14 versions will be powered with up to Icelake 10nm Core i7 processors, up to 32GB of RAM and up to 2TB of storage. Unfortunately no dedicated graphics on both the models.

The AMD version will only come in the 14″ size and will be powered by up to the AMD Ryzen 7 4700 mobile processor, unto 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage.

Pricing and Availability

There is no information regarding local pricing of the laptops here in the UAE but availability is said to be somewhere in late July or early August.
