Updated Apple 13″ MacBook Pro comes with 10th gen Intel processors and double the storage

Well there you go. There isn’t a new 14″ MacBook Pro as most were expecting, but the smaller MacBook Pro does get a much needed update today. The new 13″ MacBook Pro lineup also offers 10th-generation Intel processors, 16GB of faster 3733MHz memory standard on select configurations, the Retina display, Touch Bar and Touch ID, immersive stereo speakers, and runs macOS. The new smaller MacBook Pro is available to order today, starting at Dh7599 (for the Intel 10th gen models).

Storage and Magic Keyboard

The 13″ MacBook Pro now comes with double the storage of the previous generation, with standard storage starting at 256GB all the way up to 4TB, so customers can store even more photos, videos, and files.

The updated 13″ MacBook Pro now features the new Magic Keyboard, first introduced on the 16-inch MacBook Pro and added to MacBook Air in March. Magic Keyboard features a redesigned scissor mechanism with 1mm of key travel and the new inverted-“T” arrangement for the arrow keys. The Magic Keyboard also features a physical Escape key, along with Touch Bar and Touch ID.

The 13″ MacBook Pro lineup now offers up to 10th-generation quad-core Intel Core processors with Turbo Boost speeds of up to 4.1GHz. Unfortunately there’s no dedicated graphics on the updated smaller MacBook Pro. The integrated Intel Iris Plus Graphics is said to deliver up to 80 percent faster performance over the previous generation 13-inch MacBook Pro and the new graphics will also enable users to connect to the Pro Display XDR at full 6K resolution.

While 16GB of faster 3733MHz memory is now offered as a standard configuration on select models, for the first time there is also a 32GB memory option.

Design and Display

Most people that get a little MacBook Pro get it for its size. It’s powerful enough for an amateur or prosumer. A product smack in between the new MacBook Air and the 16″ MacBook Pro.

The body on the updated this MacBook remains unchanged, coming in space grey and silver finishes. It still comes with the 13″ Retina display which delivers more than 4 million pixels and millions of colors, along with 500 nits of brightness and support for the P3 wide color gamut.

The smaller MacBook Pro also comes with speakers that provide incredibly immersive wide-stereo sound, the Touch ID, the Touch Bar and the industry-best Force Touch trackpad for precise cursor control and Multi-Touch navigation.

Security and OS

The updated MacBook Pro comes with the Apple T2 Security Chip, Apple’s own custom-designed second-generation silicon, which checks that software loaded during the boot process has not been tampered with and provides on-the-fly data encryption for everything stored on the SSD. Along with the T2 chip you also get macOS Catalina pre-installed on the device, as expected.
