In the past months, the Apple iPhone 9 has been in the news a fair bit. Initially, it was expected to be announced sometime in mid-March however now, the event seems to have been pushed. The new date is on March 31 with sales reportedly set to begin on April 3.
Is the iPhone 9 actually the iPhone SE 2?
It is fairly certain that Apple is looking to launch a relatively inexpensive iPhone this year. We have had the iPhone SE do something similar in the past so expecting a next-generation version is not too far-fetched. Apparently, the phone will come in a chassis similar to the of the iPhone 8.
However, internal specifications will be up to date. That means we can expect the A13 Bionic CPU running the latest iOS 13.4. It will be interesting to see though if Apple includes Face ID with this iPhone in addition with to the fingerprint scanner found on the original iPhone 8.
Next-generation iPad lineup
At the same event, it seems like Apple will also announce its new iPad series that leaked a while back. Apparently, it is already in production but some recent rumours say it is facing production delays due to the Coronavirus outbreak. In lieu of this, the new iPad series may be released in limited quantities or may be delayed altogether.
The biggest change with Apple’s new tablets will be an improved camera suite. It is set to bring a triple camera with a dedicated 3D ToF sensor.
