Apple announces iPhone SE and iPad Pro 9.7″

iPhone SE

Apple might be known to ‘perfect’ whatever it makes, but hasn’t exactly followed the market curve when it comes to products specs such as screen size, camera features, storage, etc. Customers had to wait for three years for large iPhones while the Android competition had them lined up much before that. Apple today announced its smaller iPhone SE and their smaller iPad Pro.

It’s well known that OEM’s are making slightly smaller phones this year compared to the trend of the past 2-3 years and Apple seems to be addressing this section of customers ahead of its competition.

iPhone SE

The iPhone SE is apparently “the most powerful 4-inch phone ever”. From the outside, it looks just like an iPhone 5S with refinements to the metal and Apple logo. The internals on the other hand are nothing like the 5S. The SE falls just shy of the iPhone 6S. The device has a 4-inch LCD display, A9 processors with an embedded M9 processor, a 12MP iSight camera with True Tone flash and the front camera with Retina flash, 3D Touch, as well as a Touch ID home button on the front. It runs iOS 9.3 and supports Apple Pay.

The iPhone SE will be available in the UAE in early April and in space gray, silver, gold and rose gold metallic finishes in 16GB and 64GB models starting at Dh1,649 from Apple’s retail stores,, Apple Authorised Resellers and select carriers.

iPad Pro 9.7-inch

2016-03-22 (11)Next, Apple announced a smaller iPad Pro. The device was proposed as a replacement to Windows PCs and laptops, claiming it has all the functionality they do.

It has a 9.7-inch Retina display that has lower reflectiveness than any other tablet on the market. It also is the brightest tablet available. A new feature is the True Tone display. Due to four sensors on the screen, it is able to adjust the temperature and contrast of the screen based on the surrounding lighting.

Internally, the iPad Pro 9.7 is as powerful as its older brother. It has the A9X chipset, a 12MP iSight rear camera, a 5MP front camera, a speaker on all four corners, supports multi-window to use two apps at the same time, is compatible with the smart keyboard and Apple Pencil, and runs iOS 9.3.

The 9.7-inch iPad Pro comes in silver, space grey, gold and a rose gold metallic finish. It starts at Dh2,299 for the 32GB with Wi-Fi model and Dh2,799 for the 32GB Wi-Fi + Cellular model. Both iPad Pro sizes are available in offerings of 32GB, 128GB and a new 256GB capacity.
