The iPhone X is seven months old and the rumour mills continue to churn. The rumored iPhone X2 Plus (Ten 2? ex 2?) and the iPhone 9 with an LCD screen are this year’s potential Apple releases. We know very little about these phones and the leaked renders need to be taken with a massive pinch of salt.
iPhone X2 Plus
CAD schematics acquired by MySmartPrice and OnLeaks show off a very large X2 Plus with a 6.5-inch or 6.3-inch screen, depending on if you account for the slight curve on the edge of the screen. As the name and screen size suggest, this is basically a larger version of the iPhone X.
You can immediately see the similarities in the notch on the front and the back’s dual camera set up. If you thought the iPhone X was pricey, imagine how much it’s larger brother will go for?
Confused? So are we. Since Apple wanted to celebrate the iPhone’s 10th anniversary by jumping over the iPhone 9, series, it makes sense to introduce it this year. With this year’s updated and much larger iPhone X2 Plus, Apple needed a reasonable phone option to sell, which will come in the form of the budget-friendly (by Apple’s standards) iPhone 9.
Expect a 6.1-inch bezel-less screen, with a notch obviously. The discerning factor here will be its possible LCD screen instead of the much more expensive OLED. The latest renders however do point to OLED displays but with the OLED shortage across the market, it’s seems likely Apple will go with LCD for the iPhone 9. You can also notice a single camera system mounted at back instead of a dual camera, another factor bringing its expected cost below the X.
With rumors forever swirling on what can be expected from Apple’s iPhones this year: there could be as many as 4 iPhones in 2018, including a dual-SIM version. Starting at the WWDC tonight or later in September (as is the norm), we could also be treated to the long-rumored iPhone SE 2. Expect the usual launch for all other phones this September.
