It’s a heated race to make the most beautiful phone screen sans maximum bezel. ZTE unveiled its highly anticipated Nubia Z18 flagship in China, showing off a gorgeous screen and overall design.
Nubia Z18: That screen
It’s practically bezel-less, boasting a 91.8-per cent screen-to-body ratio. Contained in what is probably the smallest notch ever is a tiny selfie camera at the top. The screen is a 5.99-inch 1,080 x 2,160 IPS LCD. It sports an extremely thin bezel on the top, a slightly wider one on the bottom and practically nonexistent bezels on the side.
Nubia Z18: Specs
The ZTE’s latest flagship is powered by Snapdragon’s 845 chipset. It comes with 6GB or 8GB of RAM with choices between 64GB and 128GB of non expandable storage. There’s a 3,450mAh battery with support for Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4.0 and something called Neo Power temperature control.
The selfie camera is an 8MP f/2.0 unit and brings in a cool feature to take Portrait selfie shots. The rear snappers come at 16MP f/1.6 and 24MP f/1.6. They offer Portrait mode, advanced scene recognition and 960fps slow-motion video recording.
Nubia Z18: Pricing and availability
The Nubia Z18 is available for preorder in China now with the base 6GB/64GB model priced at CNY 2,799 (about Dh1,504) and the 8GB/128GB going for CNY 3,299. Colour options are either black or red. My favourite part of this phone apart from the beautiful screen is that there’s a special Van Gogh edition priced at CNY 3,599. No word on if and when this phone will make it out of China to our part of the world.
