In February, we were told that we would soon see a cheaper, more affordable Uber. Earlier this year, the ride-sharing giant reached an agreement with the RTA in Dubai to be able to offer new products and services in the country, mainly in support of UAE Vision 2021. Well, wait no longer Uberfans. UberX is here to save your pockets.

UberX in Dubai

From today, the service hits the roads in a pilot partnership with the RTA as an effort to introduce an affordable solution to help riders get around. During the pilot, only a select number of riders will be able to request the “more affordable” rides.

Initially, the existing pool in the Uber fleet will carry out pickups and drops. In time, however, a more affordable selection of vehicles will be rolled out to reduce operational costs and keep drivers and riders happy at the same time.
